Why not invest in renewables? Or better yet nationalize the oil industry.

The US produces more oil than Saudi Arabia and is a net exporter -3rd largest in 2023-. Saudi Arabia sells its oil in Asian and European markets. Saudi Arabia runs a welfare state on oil, if the prices drop too much, people will go out without education or healthcare, it cannot afford to sell too low. Oil is expensive in the US because it is privately owned and private companies will charge market rates even if they don’t have to. Otherwise it is not dependent upon Saudi oil, the US imports more from Canada. The US does consume an absurd amount though.

Also didn’t Biden try to ban Russian oil? Allowing it in the international market might have lowered prices.

Anyways Trump as much of a bully as he is, won’t get Saudi Arabia to flood the market. Though he may unban Russian oil which will result in cheaper prices.
