A radio? A knife? A lighter? A flashlight? How do the contents of your go-bag help you when your local disasters happen?

Upon researching, I found these helpful government resources for places prone to wildfires or earthquakes: https://www.ready.gov/kit https://readyforwildfire.org/prepare-for-wildfire/emergency-supply-kit/ https://www.redcross.org/get-help/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies/survival-kit-supplies.html

The items that came up across the three:

  • Water and non-perishable food (for humans and for pets)
  • Flashlight and radio (hand cranked or battery powered with extra batteries)
  • First aid kit, hygiene, and sanitation supplies
  • Prescription meds
  • Local maps
  • A change of clothes and some blankets
  • Some cash
  • Copies of important documents (birth certificate, licenses, passports)
  • Cell phone chargers
