What he means is what he says at the end: if everybody is screaming FASCIST after less then a week while nothing has happened which isn't already in the US constitution....
You get a cry wolf situation when it really happens. Like: Oh no, yada yada yada there goes the Donald is a FASCIST troll again... Ignore those lefty nutcases.
But dont believe me, believe what you yourself witnessed last week: Elon who does a clear and present SIEG HEIL but can brush it away saying "it's so easy to call each and everyone you disagree with a Nazi again and again.."
And the defense worked. Because he's been called a fascist and worse for months (years?) already just for having spewing right wing nonsense you hear in every pub in every city in every continent. But because we resorted to name calling for bullshit... When it actually did happen everybody continued because it's business like usual! Another day, another time Elon is called a NAZI. yeah. Right. That's probably AI generated. Anyway... Pass the butter please, honey?
Thats the real danger.
When a man is in front of you loading a rifle, do you stand there pedantically explaining that he hasn't shot you yet? Do you keep standing there when he's shooting everyone around you? At what point do you figure the "real danger" is that there's a man with a gun and he plans to shoot you?

as one of the first to call these bastards fash, I have to agree with what jon is saying. its a constant troll and "its just a joke, bro" with them in order to hide their underlying truth. the generated outrage provides cover for them to excuse it ("oh look, the purple hairs are screaming again. lol").
I love me some jon. sometimes I think he's wrong, more often I think he's correct (or at least solidly in the ballpark). so its probably worth paying attention to what he says.
all of the elements have been there for decades to turn the US right into frothing fascists and, while its evolving that way, we are not quite there yet. instead of the hair on fire reactionary takes from Democratic leaders, I would hope for a regrouping around solid, lefty, working class ideas and a real push to differentiate themselves from trumpism on a human/personal level to receptive voters. so far, aside from the bernie wing of the party... crickets, or worse, active push back (oh, he a young 78(?!) year old throat cancer!)
we either remove the fossils in the Democratic party who got us here or we continue to circle further down the authoritarian drain.
as for musk, fuck him. his highly public brand of outright, in your face trolling and political interference should be called out and he should be tarred with it. turn him into the face of neo-fascism and let everyone who touches him acquire the stench by association, rinse and repeat for each of the hangars-on. but perhaps thats just my irrational brain needing some comfort.
