I never understand the kind of mental illness these people have to not sell their homes. Usually compensation is well over the property worth.
Bullshit. I love my house. I've put an immeasurable amount of time, energy, and emotion into my property. Right now, it's worth about $500k. There is no amount of money that the government, or anyone else, could offer me that would make me sell. I'm not exaggerating. They could offer $500M on my $500k house, and I'll tell them to pound sand. A house isn't just an investment; in my case, I couldn't care less what it's worth. It's my home, and you'll never pry it away from me while I'm still breathing.
