Fediverse vs Disinformation

770 readers
948 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

It's only obvious to Nazis and anti-Nazis (aka antifa) that Musk was making a Nazi salute. Those who are skeptical that it was a Nazi salute probably don't realize that taking that position is to be sympathetic to Nazis and exactly what Nazis want.

There is a reason moderates are always first against the wall.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows. Supporters are just gaslighting trying to make him more palatable to people who might not like Nazis.

That's why they must be made to understand it.
