I counter it was necessary, as years of reading internet forums of users refusing to believe the dominance these streaming services have is starting to get old.

I don't really feel like the person you're replying to ever was refusing to believe the dominance of streaming services. I know they dobbed themself in for still having cable in the year of our lord, twenty twenty and five but I think they brought up an important point. Netflix gets bundled in with a bunch of other services, like cable, internet and mobile plans. Then those people are included in the subscriber numbers, bc they are still getting something for those users, just not what you or I would pay.

Thinking about it now, this all makes sense because I bet it keeps the shareholders happy being "on top".
