I wonder why Antony's leaving on loan would help this transfer. I understand it from a wage perspective (getting some of his wages off our books) but how do wages relate to our transfer spending?
Since Antony seems to be on about £100k/week - it means that over a 6 month period he costs us £2.4M. A significant amount of money of course but nowhere near the 20-30M we are talking about here. Even if we consider a transfer of 20M would be amortized over 5 years - then that would be about 4M towards our books this season - right? So maybe that's how it starts to make sense...
It helps because it's mostly not about actual money, but what's on the books. Antonys wages and transfer fee is on the books, if you loan him out for say 50k a week, that frees up 50k a week for Dorgu's wages, at least until the end of the season, then hopefully you can sell antony after a successful loan spell.
