De soc van de PlayStation 6 zou naar verwachting eind dit jaar de tape-out bereiken. Dat is de laatste stap van het productieproces, waarna de eerste testchips worden ontwikkeld. Naar verluidt duurt het na de tape-out doorgaans zo'n twee jaar voordat Sony de console uitbrengt.

No way in hell the PS6 is getting 3D v-cache. That shit is way too expensive to package compared to traditional dies. Hell, the PS5 even stuck to a monolithic architechture, despite all the speculation that it would be chiplet based back in 2019. Console margins are just way too tight for relatively exotic designs.

I'm certain there will be a generous cache boost, but it won't be stacked.
