Like that's a bad thing?
Yes it’s a bad thing. This legislation gives very broad power to the federal government to ban apps and platforms without any oversight. It might be TikTok today, but it could be Lemmy tomorrow.
No, the way the hearing went the judges said this case sets low precedent and it's not banned it's forced to divest.
Tiktok can remain with the exact same algorithm, same content it just can't be owned by ByteDance and closed source. The court said opening sourcing the algorithm and platform was also an option.
