He's a family practice physician (not psychiatrist or researcher) who likes to write books and speak authoritatively on platforms like Joe Rogan about ADHD (amongst other things). His whole thing is to deny genetic factors and blame children for being too sensitive and parents for not parenting right.
"...his whole thing is ..."
Just that. There's more to his body of work than this glitch you're reducing him to.
he’s reducing himself to that glitch. as i said in my other comment it’s the centerpiece of his own website’s ADHD page.
I do not agree with Maté on many of his conclusions nor particularly enjoy his writing, you are misrepresenting his arguments and misinforming people.
He has quite a range of topics he has addressed, and while his fairly recent take on ADHD is unscientific, it's not representative of his other writings.
it's the main focus of his own website's section on ADHD.

what specifically is being misrepresented?
That's odd. I read most of The Myth of Normal and did not get anything like what you're saying from it. In fact, Mate mostly blamed "the system" for keeping people traumatized. I would have stopped reading immediately if he'd said anything like "children are too sensitive." Are you sure this Barkley isn't mischaracterizing Mate? Did Mate later change his stance about everything? Based on his book, I can't imagine why he would ever say the things you describe.

lol awesome. Sounds like a complete imbecile. I expect him to be nominated for an administrative position in HHS in the next few months. 🫠
