I have seen these petitions in action. It reaches the official responce threshold. The responce is
It reaches debate in commons. It's scheduled for mid Wednesday morning and read out to 1 old duffer who went in there for a nap
Petitions show how popular ideas are and galvanize people into action.
Pessimism and apathy don’t do anything.
It lets someone feel smugly superior for not participating in a group activity, and usually that's the hilight of their week.
I'm assimung someone who goes around to tell people "stop signing petitions" feels smugly superior? That should be pretty self evident.
Or are you thinking I meant "people who sign petitions are the ones who feel smugly superior" because that's the exact opposite.

I just told you the exact process that happens.
Thes petitions are designed for the illusion of participation for us subjects
Petitions inform people about issues and serve as a good staging ground for grassroots protests.
There is that argument i guess. But this is the 2nd or 3rd pettition I have see on this subject. I signed the last ones. The responce from the government was something along the lines of its not our place to tell businesses what to do.
Out of all petitions I have signed and I know it comes off that I'm bored of the inaction (because I am) i do sign the ones that pique my interest in and have yet to see one that produced a different outcome tgat I outlined which includes 1 or 2 that breached 7 digits worth of signatures.
There is a new government formed since the last British petition.
The performance i have seen from that new government is a change in name only
