Russia has enough smart people that they already know. Some things cannot be kept hidden so it isn't worth trying to be secret about it. sometimes you tell everyone about them so you can give different specs/reasons that throw off the others. Years ago there was a large article in Popular since about some complex ship that would allow investigation of some thing in the ocean - only decades latter did we find out while it did investigate those things, but the primary purpose was to raise a sunk soviet sub and bring it to the US.

When there is no possible way to hide it, misinformation and a plausible cover story is better.

Combined with a spotter/signal relay drone, those little guys are probably a nightmare for logistics/artillery/bunkers. What they really look like is a mobile antivehicle mines.
