Individual authoritarianism and institutional authoritarianism exist as distinct concepts.

I kind of steered into it out of frustration because I don’t entirely believe that this is a legitimate miscommunication and I’m pretty sure at least some of it is actually ppl being deliberately obtuse.

Some degree of earnest, ‘America Bad’, unironically, is the buy-in for participating, and that’s perfectly reasonable.
