I'm bad at editing, but it seems they no longer think there is a connection, or at least it's not as concrete as early reports state. Below is my original post. Pretends I know how to strike it out.

~~It doesn't say it in this article, but others I've been reading today say the two men served together. I'd trust BBC but the article is 6 hours old so I'll have a look around.~~
