debacle of last year

I keep having that debate with my family and friends and I have to remind them often .... it's not a new debacle, it's not a new development, nothing has changed .... humanity has always been like this, for thousands and thousands of years and from the looks of it, will stay like that for thousands and thousands of years (if we make it that far)

And I keep saying if nuclear war starts and they give us time by announcing the imminent arrival of the first nuclear bombs to land, I'll get out my lawn chair and put it on the roof the house and watch the fire works from there .... if you're in the neighbourhood, I'll save a seat for you with some drinks and a snack.

I agree intellectually, but emotionally holy shit am I done with living through modern history.

🎵 Let’s go to the beach 🎵

🎵 The bomb exploded 🎵

🎵 The radiation toasts 🎵

🎵 And tinges everything blue 🎵

Never heard of that song and I just watched the video for the first time. It's getting harder and harder to know if something is really from 1983 or any time from the past now without doing a bit of research first.

That video, that song, the pop music, the synth, the colours, the shitty video quality, the silly dancing men and the lyrics noting the aftermath of a nuclear war ... such classic 80s in line with songs like 'Everyone wants to rule the world', 'I gotta wear shades' and '99 red balloons' ... what a great period for music

Thanks for this ... great way to start off 2025
