Israel's government has approved a plan to expand settlements in the occupied Golan Heights, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Sunday.

The statement said that Netanyahu acted "in light of the war and the new front facing Syria", as well as a desire to double the population of the Golan Heights.

Yeah this will definitely lead to peace in the Middle East. Israel big brained as always.

Looks like their long-term strategy for peace is to deport, imprison or exterminate the (uncivilized, jihadist, subhuman) locals and re-settle with (civilized, devoted, master-race) Israelis. Now, where have I heard this idea before...

TBH I think it goes back way further than that: US expansion started of as part of the British expansion, who were probably inspired by Romans. I'm sure there are examples further back in history as well. It's a pretty easy general idea to come up with if you are unburdened by ethics, empathy or humanity and your only motivation is greed and/or religious zealotry. But yes, parallels with Lebensraum specifically are especially potent.

Actually, I'm not so sure of this. Part of the drive for the revolution was to allow colonists to 'settle' (steal) land that Britain had signed treaties over.

The British empire was evil beyond description. The one thing they were good at that wasn't fully evil was environmental stewardship where that was required for profit. And the British empire viewed the unsettled lands as being a great source of beaver pelts.
