Why exactly are clubs so reluctant to let players leave on a free when they've been at the club this long? Surely a player like Mbappe has sort of "paid back" his transfer fee after all the time he's spent there?
Because they want Mbappe to be the poster boy for the club. He has the perfect marketing potential for them - a Parisien playing for the city's biggest club, one of the best players in the world and young.
Ah that makes sense but it's very stubborn. Mbappe doesn't seem to want that
Still getting money back through a sale means you are making a handy profit.
