I mean, we're in an English post, and the US is the 3rd most populated country in the world. Looking at Wikipedia, the next country after the US that has a majority of its citizens with English as a first language is the UK with about 1/3 of the population as the US. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_English-speaking_population

Not to mention, crazy things that happen to the US can affect other countries as well. Especially negative things would have an affect on other countries. The US is the country with the highest GDP in the world, and if we get a recession, with our globally connected world, others feel it as well. The reverse is also true but dependent on the countries relation to the US. China, being a high GDP country with strong trade and financial ties to the US could also cause huge problems to the US should it encounter a recession.
