I dont want to talk about the political aspects because I am not well informed, but does anyone know what the thumbnail photo is of? It looks almost other-worldly. I'm assuming it is a weapon of some sort?

It's white phosphorus if I'm not wrong. Used for 'spotting targets' aka committing war crimes.

It's supposed to be used as a smokescreen, but it burns very hot so it's occasionally used as a weapon in war crimes.

Could also just be thermite which has a similar burning metal look
