The rule is #books are better than #movies based on them. I think they accomplish different things though: books have more detail, movies can show what you may have missed

While I think usually books are better, I have a theory that #childrensbooks DO adapt well. Simply, they have less material to adapt so they can add more depth to what is there. A great example is Wizard of Oz. I've read the book - it's good, not great. The movie is, especially for its time, amazing

The Devil Wears Prada is another example of a movie outdoing its book.

@JargonWagon Based on what? Better dialogue? Better pacing?

I haven't read the book myself, just going off of what I've read from others.

Some think both can be appreciated equally, others say the movie is better due to it having more of a focus on the fashion industry as a whole, whereas the book is very inwardly focused on the main character, what she experiences, and her growth through it all.

Idk how to put spoiler tags in here, or I'd include another detail I've read about.

@JargonWagon Sounds like it's more personal preference of one's priorities - if you prefer inner stories, like the character's experience, you would prefer the book. If you're more interested in the fashion industry, you would prefer the movie. That's not necessarily better made, though, in my opinion.
