Meh. It’s zuck’s private platform and Zuck hasn’t been running around yelling “absolute free speech!” like some of the other billionaire megalomaniacs have.
He is a major shareholder of a publicly traded company. Opportunistic censorship makes the company look bad because it reveals abuse of power, which reflects poorly on the company as a whole.
This is Facebook. It casts no reflection.
if he wants a private platform he shouldn’t open it to the public
Yeah, if my restaurant is open to the public, I can't deny entry to the guy who doxxes me every day. Makes sense to me! We know the results owner is an asshole, so we'll just allow it. We on lemmy never cared about law and order in the first place, we know who's good and who's bad, and based on that we rule on everything.
lol, tracking air flights is not doxing
As there are a decent number of anarchists around, no, we literally don't care about your "law and order"
TIL opening up to the public means relinquishing ownership.
I’m a sense it does, the people who use the platform is what makes or breaks it. Without the people, what does Elon or Zuck have? An empty website?
counterpoint: its our biosphere. fuck that piece of shit
