Until I started seeing this graphic weekly on all, I greatly overestimated blu-ray's market share. I find it surprising given the ubiquity of higher definition televisions and blu-ray players.
As stated in previous threads, there are lots of reasons why DVDs are still popular today:
Also people bought them many years ago and they are still chugging along, so they have no desire to upgrade.
