Is Uzumaki cursed? (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

That's not just second episode and it's dorky animation, the first one is dogshit too. I feel like Uzumaki just can't get a proper adaptation. And it's probably a curse we won't have a chance to lift.

I think Netflix-produced anime suffers from consistency problems.

You get some like Dungeon Meshi that are absolutely brilliant, but the vast majority are just meh.

I can give them credit for being willing to take risks.

That "Netflix-produced" label seems very vague. Beyond being licensed by Netflix outside of Japan I don't know of any way that they influenced the production of Dungeon Meshi.

It's a Netflix exclusive worldwide. You figure they threw money at Trigger for it to be that way...

You're probably right, but that doesn't seem like much of an indicator for anything regarding the quality of the final product. Production was handled by Trigger and we don't know if Netflix had any kind of supervision. Dungeon Meshi aired on all the usual TV channels in Japan as well, so Netflix isn't the only licensee.
