He's not wrong, but it would take an amendment to do it as the EC is baked into the Constitution and we're too divided to get an amendment passed.

That still doesn't get rid of it, it uses it and re-directs it.
Right. But then we don't have to consider it. It will be ultimately ineffective and purely administrative.
