There's no defending billionaires, it's a mental illness that has not yet been adopted into the dsm. But capitalism itself isn't pure evil incarnate. Capitalism has some very clear upsides and downsides, like any other political and economical system. The current version of capitalism has strayed very far from the original idea though and has become very problematic. It's the same discussion as "guns kill people" and someone else goes "actually... it's the people who operate the guns...".
