I feel that way admit the The Thing remake/prequel. I see it on a streaming service and watch it, but it does not compare to the original in my opinion.

It’s not a bad movie, but John Carpenters The Thing is exceptional.

Same with the Poltergeist remake. I’ve never actually seen the original, but the remake is just an okay film.

Obligatory 'Carpenter’s Thing is a remake as well'

The original movie was made in the fifties.

Doesn’t change the fact that Carpenter’s version is one of the best movies of all time imho.

Yet the old one is interesting as well. It’s not as engaging as the newer ones and the monster is a little lacking, but the dialogue is neat and unusual and there’s a crazy fire stunt.

Yeah, and Holy Cats! it is terrible. Well, that may be a bit strong, but it has nothing on Carpenter's remake.
