Anyone who would consent to being coined a 'gold star family' are the same people who would use the term to get a free appetizer with the purchase of a 'premium' entree at applebee's.

Your family member gambled their life for the g.i. bill and a shot at a decent pension, they lost fighting a bullshit war, go cry into your busch light.
Those are a lot of assumptions and generalizations about a very broad group of people. How does recognizing a family's loss relate to a spouse wanting a title they haven't earned? Feel free to keep any dumb opinions to yourself.
