Reality: This takes place 20 years in the future. The authentication server is down. Game won't load character for offline play. Dad starts looking for emulators and torrenting PS4 bios so emulator will run.

Console discs are good in that context, usually us PC users get screwed with extra DRMs, launchers etc.
