I'm honestly surprised Rowling hasn't had somebody slap the shit out of her yet

[–] Plopp 5 points 3 months ago (3 children)

I mean, the reason she is like she is is because some men did do that, and even worse things, to her in the first place.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I don't buy into that.

Unfortunately, many women have been through similar horrible things. This is how she behaves following those events, not every domestic abuse and SA survivor, making this her issue all the same.

So I'm not going to excuse the behavior by saying she is this way because of what she went through. I fully understand she's been traumatized, but I feel like saying "the reason is" is excusing it.

To be clear I don't think you are excusing her behavior, just providing insight. At the same time it can be seen as excusing.

It sure isn't an excuse, nor is it the only explanation for her behavior. It is of course complex (hence people are affected differently by the same things happening to them). But I'd go as far as to say it's a major contributing factor, and probably even the foundation which everything else sits upon. Had she not been traumatized like that I don't think she'd be saying the things she says today.

She hates women because men? Why doesn't she hate men then?

[–] Plopp 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

She has a phobia for men. She's scared shitless of men and see them as predators. That's why she won't accept trans women as women, because she can't see them as anything other than predators that are trying to disguise themselves as the prey they're trying to catch.

Wild claim, because I don't see her afraid of any men.

[–] Plopp 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The "wild claim" is based on her own description of her feelings towards men and how she reacts when she finds herself alone with men.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Her own description is more bad fiction that she seems to love so much. If she was truly so terribly afraid, why is she married? She's sleeping with one of them. And, her authorship? She RPs as one of them. So no I'm not going to accept her claim at face value.

It seems you really want life to be simple and black and white. It isn't. I hope you also accept people not believing you when you tell them about your feelings and experiences, just because they have different opinion about how you should feel based on some purity test they have.

Chatgpt drivel is everywhere....

What the hell does that have to do with her hating trans people and trash talking them at every opportunity?

I'll save you some time. It has nothing to do with it because being slapped by a dude has nothing to do with respecting trans women, period.
