when did Venezuela do this? I can't seem to find any articles about it, the search results are filled with their Twitter ban
This article might be propaganda.
Oh wait...I see the writer of the article showed MSNBC as one of his or her sources, so it's definitely some kind of propaganda to push more Russia hysteria and to manufacture consent for stealing all of Venezuela's oil.
this. the venezuela thing is not new. in fact, it has been tried, what, like six times in the last couple of decades? they tried it in my country last year and "failed".
the us just wants to get a foothold in south america again and this legit scares me.
That's because you were a little early! This article is from 40 min ago and your comment is from an hour ago. 😅 https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/russia-and-venezuela-have-blocked-encrypted-messaging-app-signal/ar-AA1oxMyS
they are citing The Verge article, and The Verge article seems to be the only place I can find the claim
You need to search in Spanish:
https://eldiario.com/2024/08/09/como-evitar-bloqueo-aplicacion-signal-venezuela/amp/
https://laverdad.com/reportan-bloqueo-de-la-aplicacion-de-mensajeria-signal-en-venezuela/
okay so I want to be clear I'm not calling this into question, but is this just a tweet from a Venezuelan saying that the website is blocked on most ISPs? has there been anything from the government about it?
No idea
