Only reason not to get an AMD card is if you want to run local AI stuff like stable diffusion. AMD cards can still be used, but not all features are supported.
Otherwise it should be a great card.
I understand that but my current NVIDIA card is useless on Linux. I do a little AI stuff but I’ve mostly moved to the cloud for that.
Not useless. I've been using Bazzite for a couple months with my RTX 3080. I've played BG3, The Talos Principle, and Divinity Original Sin EE. I have to use X11 instead of Wayland so I can use GWE for fan curve, but honestly I've been shocked by how well everything just works. I'd give it a go first before dropping your dosh on a new card unless you really need to upgrade anyway.
