When I was a kid growing up in the third world, I was on a city bus with my mom on the way home from an appointment. This dirty, shady guy gets on and pushes his way through and tells me and my mom to back up.
He's holding what looked like an avocado, until he lifted his arm and started announcing that he had a live hand grenade. He directed everyone to his friend at the back of the bus, who was holding a gun and was going around with a bag, collecting money and jewelry. Everyone just kinda shut the fuck up and gave them everything, including my mom who handed over her cash.
The guys got off the bus without a fuss and ran off into the street with everyone's money. My mom told me later that she had a hidden pocket with the money and she only kept a couple of small bills on her purse to deter thieves.
