It would be more appropriate to say that pharmacists are now allowed to write prescriptions for birth control, rather than needing to go to your PCP. A prescription is still required in the end (since they are legend drugs, meaning they can't be sold Over the Counter (OTC)). We do the same over in Oregon, and reading through the article it's basically the same thing going on.
