Yeah this is my favourite too. Feels more realistic as a gen 1 version of the throne. Like to imagine it got bigger over time lol

I’ve always liked this because it has this dark contrast.

You’ve got an ancient and gigantic building, decorated with ornate banners and artwork. Centuries upon centuries of grandiose construction of a palace that is incomprehensibly massive. The inner sanctum is protected by royal guards who are themselves insanely ornate. And all of the us to guard this pathetic shell of a man who has been stripped of all dignity and agency to be used as a comatose tool in the machinery of the Imperium.

I much preferred when the Emperor was entirely unresponsive to the outside world and there was a real question on if he was in fact braindead, and the fact that the High Lords of Terra both didn’t know and that they didn’t want to know because for their purposes it didn’t matter.

Totally agree. The fact the guy is basically dead and is used as a beacon for navigating the stars is pretty great. Used as a symbol to let the ruling class continue. Super grim and dark ending for such a bright character.

Getting worried with the return of primarchs..how long until big ol emps gets a ressurection.

I also prefer the thought that the Emperor is dead, or in a "dead but dreaming" state.

I try to look on the bright side: we can always ignore and lore we don't like, plus having the primarchs come back gives us some outstanding models!
