Absolutely untrue. Yes there has always been the Oracle or fucking more recently gitlab and hasicorp, but the most successful oss projects have plenty of commercial backing.

Correct, but there are also many used oss packages that are used by big companies, where developers are not allowed to make code for oss projects. The comic is talking about them, if they are even allowed to make new issues on the repo...

I help manage a few oss repos and some are company backed, which is awesome, and some are not and you can tell by the state of the repo
