This is one of my biggest flying fears, I never unbuckle unless I'm headed to the washroom or we are on the ground stopped.

Meh, look at the stats - the chance is incredibly low. Not something I'd waste energy fearing (same as crossing a bust street). Just take the appropriate precautions as you already do.
