Both my kids are sick. Both have colds. My eldest has a recurrence of pinworm that didn't show it's head until 11pm last night and ultimately resulted in me sleeping (badly) on her floor. Then, as we finally pull away from the hovel of disease that is our house, my drivers side front coil spring snaps and hey presto, we no longer have a drivable car.

So, what's your worst holiday experience?

Anyway. How are we all doing this aggressively sunny Monday morning? Anyone get up to anything exciting over the weekend?

I've just woke up, managed to get a bit of relaxing done this weekend although not as much as planned so feeling extra bitter about being back to work. Hay fever is on a mission to kill me. Not getting much sleep in general at the moment which is making everything else seem ten times worse.

On the bright side we went swimming yesterday and last time my legs really started to stiffen up the day after but this time I've escaped unscathed, so just goes to show how quickly it makes a difference! Also I managed to sort of half figure out a concept in my game dev hobby that's been kicking my arse the last couple weeks. Still a long way to go until it actually works properly, but I'm making progress and quite proud.

For once, Past Me really put the legwork in on a project last week so Present Me gets to have a fairly slack Monday for once. Sounds good to me!

Happy Sunday folks!

Got the wean’s girlfriend visiting from Austria for the week and look what their Dad brought as a gift!

Would love to hear of some interesting/peculiar gifts that folk have unexpectedly received? I was absolutely blown away by getting this and it’s just such a nice wee gesture that I was blown away.

See title.

Had a weird dream where I was trying to take part in a Lemmy thread but lots of people were commenting on it from Mastodon as well and something wasn't working right between the two. I can't remember specifics but it was extremely frustrating in the dream and I woke up fuming.

So naturally the adrenaline of possibly the world's first(?) fediverse-based nightmare had me wide awake and unable to get back to kip.

Not the best start to what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend!

It's Thursday, one of the worst days of the week. Not yet the weekend, but we're already tired.

Come in and have a moan!

Any suggestions on getting it onto the bus?

Somehow overnight our little spoons spontaneously organised themselves into perfect order.

I can confirm neither of us did this on purpose, as you can see our usual cutlery storage method is just "throw it in the drawer it's fine".

What's the word for the opposite of entropy?

After standing staring at the sight for a bit, we realised they may have done this to draw our attention to how badly the drawer needs cleaning. So it's ok, you don't need to ;)

What games are you playing, Lemmy? Board, video, or mobile - what have you been doing and should we play it too?

Thread for TV, film and music recommendations! What have you been feeding into your eyes and ears recently? What have we missed and should know about?

It seems like rumours and suspicions have solidified today. So I was genuinely interested to see who was presenting the 10 o'clock news this evening – and how the current BBC-related story was covered.

Monday morning musings (self.ukcasual)

Monday is here. Back to work, or maybe not?

Looks like Lemmy.world had some external "issues" earlier, I logged on to post at 4.30 this morning and was greeted by "Site taken down by Reddit" (lol). Looks like the nasty hacker types have been evicted.

What are you looking forward to (or dreading) this week?

Welcome to the weekend, part two.

It's pretty wet here so we're probably off to a museum later. Are you hiding from the rain or embracing it?

Once a week I have to go to London for the day (there and back in a single day).

Once I get into London, I have to get the tube. One journey to my destination and then later in the day one journey back to the train Station. It's all Zone 1, very occasionally 2. Can be any day, including weekends.

It's £13 for a return on the tube (I just buy a ticket from the machine at the tube station) which seems excessive to me - over £50 a month for just 8 journeys. Is there a cheaper plan available?

So here's this nice hedgehog, that my neighbour posted earlier. But they forgot that PostImage does not remove the gps data. Lemmy does this for you when it stores images. Of course, you can clean it, or change it, yourself with the likes of Exif Pilot. As for myself, I will be speaking to you all just as soon as I have got The Budget ready.
