♦ Rules ♦

1. Stay Civil

This is a place for friendly discussion, memes, guides, art, gameplay questions, screenshots and the like. Discrimination and harrassment won't be tolerated.

2. Mark Spoilers

It is okay to post about "related games" (such as Age of Calamity and Breath of the Wild) but please use the spoiler "censor" and do not put spoilers directly into the title, as the censor doesn't work this way. Posts about other Zelda games might be suited better in general Zelda communities, like the ones listed at the bottom of the sidebar.

3. Offtopic Posts

Anything not related to BotW, like politics, religion, non-Zelda games etc. is better suited elsewhere and will be removed. The same goes for NSFW material.

4. No Advertisements

It is okay to post about merchandise, but links to those "design your own merch" sites will be removed, as those are almost always scams featuring stolen art. Affliate links will be removed as well. This isn't Etsy.

5. Provide Sources

If you're going to post art, comics, guides, screenshots etc. that are not your own OC, please mention the name of the original creator and ideally also a link to their portfolio/website. (Pinterest is almost never the original source)

6. Suggestions are Welcome!

Feedback, requests for improvements and constructive criticism are always appreciated ;)

Well that's kind of disappointing. No Master Mode? No Kass/Sage's Ballad? No further gear slots? No further lore for [endgame spoiler armor]?

Surface: https://abload.de/img/korok_map_totk_surfac1xf5i.jpg (8MB)

  • Pretty big, so it may take a moment to properly load

Sky: https://abload.de/img/korok_map_totk_sky9oeug.jpg

  • Smaller, because the islands are so far apart that you really don't need to zoom as much

The Great Sky Island: https://abload.de/img/korok_map_totk_greatsptd94.jpg

  • Only the Great Sky Island, as those are a bit too clustered to be seen on the "big" map

The original, interactive map can be found here on Zeldadungeon.net but personally I find it easier to keep track if I have a non-static map that I can digitally scribble on. These maps were created by stitching individual screenshots together - all the actual work and credit for the creation of the original map goes to the folks of zeldadungeon.

PS: The white lines indicate the route you have to take for backpack Koroks, races, flower chasing etc.

Spoilers for both TotK and BotW in the linked article. Longer form than most Zelda Dungeon blurbs.

Man I love these games.

So O got these 2 bows and I want to be sure which one is better.

This one has +10 att. Meaning it deals 48+10=58 damage.

This one has 32 att and shits 5 arrows. Meaning it deals 32x5=160 damage.

Assuming all 5 arrows hit the target, the second one is by far better right?

As all 5 arrows seem to be shot in a line, what are the odds I hit the target with all 5 arrows ?

Isn't it more efficient to hit one time at 58 instead of taking a chance to hit more than 32 ?

What even is an amiibo? (ELI5)

Amiibo figurines are collectible figurines with an NFC tag (imagine a small computer chip) in the pedestral. Your Nintendo Switch is able to read those, and scanning the figurine will give you in-game rewards in the form of items, food, weapons, arrows, and sometimes even special armor. A couple of "exclusives" like certain Paraglider fabrics^1 and the iconic "Epona" horse also exist.

The same figurines also work in other games, even ones not related to Zelda, but will have different effects then depending on the game^2

(One of the currently 25 different Zelda-themed figurines)

The amiibo card sets commonly sold on ebay, amazon etc. are a whole lot cheaper than the figurines, but they're counterfeit merchandise not licensed or manufactured by Nintendo. But even tho they're bootlegged, will they still work the same - the reason being that both use identical hardware (the NFC tags in the same format) and software (cloned original amiibo data). Your console can't tell the cards and legit amiibo apart since the only actual difference is whether or not a plastic figurine is glued to the chip.

... but if you're worried about copyright infringement or just don't feel comfortable with purchasing knockoffs, it is something you should keep in mind. (The sellers NEVER state that it is not official merch)

So how do I "scan" those things in the first place?

Your Switch has a built-in scanner hidden inside the right C-Stick. However, in order to actually use/scan an amiibo, it is not enough to "just" hold the figurine close to the C-Stick. You also need to:

  1. Enable amiibo usage in the first place. Open the option's menu, go to the settings, and it should be the topmost result. Please note that you can not do this immediatly after starting a new game, likely to not make early game exploration TOO easy. Just keep playing for a while and the option will become availiable, adding the amiibo icon to your ability wheel:

  1. Then you need to actually use that ability in-game, point the glowing circle in front of Link to an open space (where you want the loot to land) and then hold the figurine close to the C-stick.

  2. Some specific items also require gameplay progress, like completing the Great Sky Island or visiting the Depths at least once.

Please note that amiibo do not work everywhere - inside of shrines and certain special conditions (like playing minigames, bossfights etc.) the amiibo ability is disabled by default.

If done right, it will look like this:

The loot table said amiibo XYZ drops this particular item, but I scanned it and got something different!

The loot depends hugely on RNG. If you, for example, want 'Sheik's Mask' from the Sheik amiibo, then don't expect it to drop right on the first scan, as the drop chance for this item is only 50% from a loot table that gets selected in about 20% of all cases, so the overall probability per scan goes down to a meager 10% - and you can scan each individual amiibo only once per day.

Armor sets also never drop as a whole set, but in pieces instead - and duplicates are possible. If you, for example, want to get the Hero of Time armor set, you might get 3x Hat of Time, 1x Tunic of Time and 0x Trousers of Time after a month of daily scanning.

The good thing is that all "unique" armor pieces and weapons are also availiable in the base game (and you can sell duplicates for around 600 rupees each). Only the Paraglider Fabrics and Epona are amiibo-exclusive.

Is there anything I can do about those lousy drop chances...?

Yes! Savescumming works just fine with amiibo. You save the game before(!) scanning the amiibo, and if you are not satisfied with the loot that dropped, just reload and try again. Reloading un-does the daily scan so you can try an infinite amount of times (or until you're bored / annoyed) until you get what you wanted. If you then save the game, you keep the item that dropped, and the amiibo enters cooldown until the next calendar day.

... and those calendar days depend on the internal system clock. If you want to keep scanning, go to the Switch's settings and fast-forward a day or two. This will temporarily mess up the order of newly generated autosaves in your playthrough, but that's a probem that fixes itself once you set the clock back to its normal time and keep playing.

Yet another method to boost your chances for the rare stuff is to scan the amiibo until it drops something from the "small hit" loot table, then save the game and continue scanning. If you get four items from the "small hit" table in a row, the game forces the "big hit" table to be selected 100% of the time for the fifth scan, so in the example above you would have odds of 50% to get Sheik's Mask. In order to do this you need to pay close attention to the loot tables tho, as each amiibo has a different, unique table to pick from and some of the loot is inconclusive, so you won't know which table was selected.

(But I'll gladly explain it further if someone has questions regarding this mini guide)

Basically the title; does the shop in Lurelin village reset enemy and weapon spawns?

Either google search isn't like it used to be with relevant results, or my google-fu is lacking. I keep getting botw instead of totk pages, or a rehash of the two-hour blood moon trigger.

Top to bottom:

  • Thick Stick

  • Tree Branch

  • Sturdy Wooden Stick

Considering that the trees in the sky are almost exlusively bright and have orange leaves, while the surface trees are usually darker, it does make sense that those weapons look different depending on the type of wood that was used. I still think it is a neat little extra detail that helps make the world feel more alive ;)

I haven't found either Blueshell Crabs OR Blueshell Snails in this game yet, and the latter at least existed in BotW. Is there such a thing as a Blueshell Crab in this game?

(I'm aware that Razorclaw Crabs are blue)

I'm sure you guys know of this incredible app. Shout-out to the dev.

If you don't, tears companion is the ideal companion app to help you in your journey. It has locations to absolutely everything in many languages.

Beware not to use this app too early in the game or you'll get spoiled a lot ! But if you're struggling to find these last korok seeds, or if you just want to keep track of your findings, it is great !!

If you feel like downloading it, below is a link to find it. If 10 of you guys download it using this link, I'll be awarded unlocked content in-app.

But you can also download it the old usual way :)

Have fun !

I guess I'm mostly just hoping I'm not the only one this happens to.

I'll see it fall to ~~earth~~Hyrule, follow the beacon, and when I get close and it switches from "no physics" mode to "collectable item" mode, it's just not there. I'm pretty sure what's actually happened is that it's under the ground. I think it may be more likely to happen if the "meteorite" hits a steep surface.

Is this an issue for anybody else? Two of the last three I've gone to collect were uncollectable because of this.

What other combos are misnamed?

It lookss like you need 30 molduga jaws to max out the radiant set. Afaik there are only 4 moldugas. So we need to wait for 7 bloodmoos and kill all 4 every bloodmoon? Seems a bit much (no duplication glitch)

Is there another way? Or are there more molduga i dont know about?

State on PC? (lemmy.ca)

What is the state on PC like at this point? I heard when the game released it was a little bit unstable which has made me wait so far. Is it good now? I have a 5700x and a 3070.

I just added the value of the drops (from drop tables).

Gems from rare taluses are worth about 520 rupees on average

Silver lynel parts are worth 700 rupees. If you cook them in 5 ingredient recipies you can essentially double the value. (Not to mention the arrows bows and shields)

Alt Text: a Korok being glued to the top of a metal post. On that post there are 4 rockets launching it into the air. In addition, there is a stabilizer on the bottom of the post to make it fly straight up.

My son was complaining about having a hard time finding specific items in the inventory or in context menus of arrows and throwing stuff. We came up with the idea of environment sensitive sorting. Like the game taking into account the rocks, enemies etc and showing you your past favourite items in such surroundings.

I'd love to see that in some future version or dlc.

zoanite respawns (self.totk)

Does zoanite in the mines in the depths respawn after blood moons? Do the big deposits in the caves at the mines respawn? Thanks.

The only method i know so far is to use a rocket shield and ahoot the heads with slow motion.

Can you parry them?

Any way without rocket shields?

I guess Sheikah can teleport. Pay attention to the right side of the screen.

  1. Eat attack up food (1.5x dmg)

  2. Attach something blunt to a Royal claymore (moblin horn, lynel mace horn etc), and flurry rush an attack (2x dmg on flurry rush for royal weapons) . Armor melts in one flurry rush. (Any royal weapon works)

  3. Use a royal guard claymore thats almost broken fused with a lynel horn. Does like 170dmg, and if you only hit him when mounted it uses no durability.

  4. When his health is super low swap to a different weapon. Otherwise you might accidentally hit the ground and break the sword.

Best fuse items for weapons are from lynel drops... (55 attack from silver lynel)
