So the 2 guys I usually play with are champ2 and dia3-champ1 level. I'm also champ1. NONE of us were ever in GC, not for a single match. We play 2v2s and 3v3s, depending on who's available.

This season we got absurd amount of GCs in our matches. Both 2v2 and 3v3, but 3v3 seemed even more infested with GC titles. Interestingly, whenever they actually say something about their rank, they say they are GCs in another game mode, or that they played a long time ago. But most of them still do stuff that we have never been able to, and the rest is just as bad as us, or even worse (which isn't too rare). But this many "GC in another mode" players, suddenly, out of thin air?

What happened suddenly?

Before this season, seeing a GC title in our games was definitely a rarity. We saw ~2-3 every season, and that was pretty much it. Whenever we ran into one before, they actually played like a GC and they hard carried their suspiciously clueless teammates. This season GC matches are more abundant than the ones without.

Is it because the player numbers are falling so hard that Psyonix resorted to widening the matchmaking search, allowing significantly better (or worse) players to match against us, just to keep the waiting times low? Now that I think of it, as many GCs we get against us, we definitely don't see just as many clueless opponents. If it's not the waiting time, then why did matchmaking change so drastically? Is it boosting? Because that didn't just happen overnight between the two seasons.

What do you think?

EDIT: People starting ranked at a lower rank than what they had in the previous season also can't be the reason, since we would also be somewhere in low diamond then; it's the middle of the season, so I doubt THIS many people whould start their freshly deranked season now.

I have somewhere between 1500-2000 hours in the game, never worked hard on air rolling but as I cracked C3 and hit GC1 briefly I realized I needed to rededicate myself to learning this or there was no point to grinding ranked.

So I had a basic understanding of air rolling, and as I said I sort of practiced it here and there over the past couple years but the thing that always stopped me was how incredibly hard and confusing it is. It’s very easy to get deflated when you don’t see basically any gradual progress like you would with, say, a moderately difficult training pack.

Air rolling just isn’t something our brains are wired to naturally do. So you have to brute force it. I think much better workshops could be designed around this. Rings maps are not a good way to learn this mech AT ALL. Rings maps are for people who can already air roll.

I have zero skills to make something like this, nor do I have the time really, but a rings training wherethe first level is one gigantic ring about ten times the size of Leth’s rings. You just have to air roll up to it at a 45 degree angle. Second level adds a second ring a ways behind the first, so now you just have to stay level. Third level third ring drops down a bit. And so on. Eventually maybe after the first 20 levels the rings shrink a bit. Then again after 20 more levels. And so on.

That way you can actually see your progress. If you don’t know how to air roll at all, and it takes you awhile to get past the first few levels, then a week or two later you can get to level 15 or whatever, that’s helpful. Leths ring map is cool but it didn’t teach me shit except that I started playing this game about 6 years too late. The speed trials are much better, speed trials 1 is how I brute force taught myself. But touching a single pixel of a wall and immediately dying is also NOT helpful.

Anyway, how many hours in the game do you have, what rank are you, and how proficient are you at air rolling?

Because I don't get it. I see this word a lot when I derank and the players that use it are usually trash.

So now that the teams going to the finals are confirmed: who on here is going to Düsseldorf (from where) and who are you cheering for?

I know they did a fat deranked at the beginning of the season but even after that it feels different. For the past year and a half I’ve been champ 1 and up in champ 2. Now I’m diamond 3 and I feel like I’m facing high D1 players and champ 1 feels like C2 players.

I don’t mind at all idc about rank but it’s just something I’ve noticed and wondering if anyone has also? Maybe I’m just playing shitty idk but D2/D3 before was very toxic with a mix of terrible and amazing people but it’s been very consistent now

r/rocketleague made a decision very early on that highlights would be allowed every day as regular posts. Subsequently, the sub turned into a giant highlight reel. Sure there were a couple of posts here and there on patches, RLCS, rare items, etc. But seeing highlight after highlight really killed the community discussions.

Making a request to the mods that highlights become a sticky-only or one-day-a-week thing as opposed to the core focus of the community.

If everyone at higher ranks has it figured out what’s the point? Like I can understand when someone doesn’t do it but what’s the difference than doing a normal one if people have it down to a science

So when this season first started everyone in 2s was butthurt since their egos got smashed but once they fixed that it has been pretty good for me. I have been able to work my way back up to champ with minimal toxicity.

But, the toxicity that does occur is people just leaving. Like when 45 seconds of game clock of the game starting. A lot of the time my teammate gets a shitty kickoff and it’s one of those that bounces off the wall and goes into your goal that is very hard to defend.

Teammate immediately leaves. That’s what I have been experiencing more of. I haven’t had too many issues with chat toxicity, in fact it’s actually been good. But the leaving part is more active which is weird

Love how creative teammates can get in passing off any blame for a loss. I get it a lot as a long-time player and master of trash.

This morning, had someone bring up my goals per match average to tell me that they just can't carry someone with that low of an average.

Anyone have any unique ways they were told they're trash?
