Restaurants sue to keep $18 AZ minimum wage measure off the November ballot

The Arizona Restaurant Association is suing to block a ballot initiative that would raise the state’s minimum wage to $18, claiming the union-backed group behind it failed to gather enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot.

The political committee Raise the Wage AZ has been gathering signatures for a ballot measure called the “One Fair Wage Act” since November 2022. The measure would raise the state minimum wage from $14.35 to $18 per hour, then increase it annually to address inflation.

I was wondering what was burning last night. So much smoke it didn't look like a small structure fire.

I try not to be too much of a prepper but yesterday's outage got me thinking things could turn real bad real fast. Will hotels fill up? What about pets? When do you make the call and abandon your place in search of cool?

Curious if others have thought about this or gone as far as to make a plan.

Always interesting when local reddit posts come back around to being news stories, that invariably someone will share back to reddit.

There is so much great food in the Valley. You really have to drive around for it since we're so spread out, but it's out there.

We went for a hike early Saturday, and we found a 9mm bullet on the trail.

Anyone else ever noticed how charming this house would be somewhere else? It's on Glendale and the west 101. Just by looking at it you can tell it was here before anything else was built around It. My grandpa moved out here in the '50s to start drilling wells when there wasn't much around. I've posted a picture before of my Aunt Nancy as a young girl standing in barren desert where 19th avenue Indian School is. My grandpa said one day he talked to the owner of this house and asked him if he was ever going to sell. The guy said when he was a young boy he could jump over the pine trees that now grow tall all around the property. He couldn't bring his heart to do it. The pines tower around his farmhouse like impotent sentinels trying to remain noble.

Just testing the posting.

Literally the day i was going to post about this on r/phoenix, someone else posted their experience with waymo, so i didnt bother. But it was a fun ride, and a very cool and surreal experience. I love our psuedo sci-fi world. 😄

Also, does lemmy not have spellcheck?
