Meta Quest VR

Meta is making audio spatialization on Quest more realistic by upgrading the HRTF model. Spatial audio works by using a Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF), a mathematical function that calculates the filter to apply to the audio for each ear to make it sound like it was emitted from a precise point in 3D space relative to your head. It's completely different to the basic audio panning used in most non-VR games.

• Run SteamVR once, then close it.

• Download the .AppImage.
• Give executable permissions.
• Run.
• Download the latest .apk on your Quest 2(if you have an app installer) or, install to Quest 2 from your PC via ADB or, use SideQuest(built in ADB).

If you have trouble setting controller bindings within SteamVR you can point your browser to localhost:27062/dashboard/controllerbinding.html to set your controller settings.

Pop OS 22.04 (Ubuntu) Very playable on both a NVIDIA GTX 970 and GTX 3060.

Steam has been undergoing many changes lately, things may break in the future, try switching between beta and non beta if things dont work, this works for me as of July 13th 2023. I will keep this thread up to date as i use VR on Linux

Meta had announced the shut down of Echo VR for August 1st earlier this year. Echo is one of the most popular VR multiplayer games with an active e-sports community.

Another Axiome, the studio behind Gorilla Tag, has recently shared a roadmap for their upcoming game codenamed "A2". The team includes people that worked on the original Echo VR and can be considered the spiritual successor.

The team shared a roadmap, with closed betas starting September and an app lab release early next year. There isn’t any game play available yet, but there’s some more detailed information about the game and a A2 discord Server.

Hello Quest 2 people,

I have set up a home server on my home with jellyfin with https.

I want to watch movies from the server but I have to install the self-signed CA Certificate I have created on my home. However I cant find anywhere on the Quest 2 settings about how i can install the certificate.

Typically in Android devices it is located in Settings/Security.

Any idea about how I can install it? Thanks in Advance.

SOLUTION:

Android 12 uses its own DNS servers and avoids the DNS servers set up by the Wifi Network. If someone wants to use his own DNS via pihole etc, it has to disable it via the Settings (opened by Pi Launcher) Network/ Private DNS -> set to off. Also, Android Settings menu supports to install your own CA certificate. Please note that you have to enable developer mode in order to be able to sideload android applications on Quest 2.

Alternatively (solution by JordanBrenden), you can change the DNS server using adb:

This command to change the DNS mode:

adb shell settings put global private_dns_mode hostname

Then this command to add the DNS over TLS hostname: adb shell settings put global private_dns_specifier [HOSTNAME_HERE]___

Basically title. After seeing the Apple headset announced and is aimed much more at being a “computer” replacement than anything else..

I started to realize most of what the showed could already be done in the Quest. Web browsing, apps, the only thing that makes me jealous is the eye tracking and using my hands on my lap.

I’ve started to try to use my quest as a browse the web, watch a video, kind of device and for the most part it works pretty good. The isolation isn’t ideal but I think the Quest 3’s improved pass through may help.

There are speed increases for Quest 2 and Pro included.

I think I’m most excited to see how hand tracking has improved. I would love to be able to use all my fingers to type on the virtual keyboard.

Anyone have any good tips on dealing with sweat and condensation in and around the headset?
