feather/ash conversion is 1:X where X is the number of pieces of armor equipped when the loot roll takes place. X must be > 0 during queue time.

Optimal strategy:

  1. Equip the class armor piece and queue
  2. Complete the event and kill the boss
  3. Switch to a loadout with 5 armor pieces between the boss dying, and the loot rolling

You will get the optimal 1:5 conversion with this method. Up to 20 feathers per run can be consumed based on the number of balls successfully thrown at the bonfire

355

There's a new buff called Firebound that gives you increased Recovery and Super Regen when close to allies.

Also, when you kill the carriers they drop 3 balls that you barely have enough time to throw 2 let alone 3.

Seems like Bungie wants us to run together this year instead of sitting in a corner camping enemy spawns.

Activites

CRUCIBLE:

  • Adjusted spawn points on Burnout for Trials of Osiris Dominion.
  • Fixed some positions where players could get outside of the playable area on these maps:
    • Radiant Cliffs
    • Altar of Flame
  • Fixed an issue where the voiceover at the end of Mayhem matches would not play.

FREEROAM

  • Neomuna
    • Fixed an issue where Terminal Overload could stop progressing at Stage 3.

UI/UX

  • Fixed an issue where the Guardian Ranks icon decorations for higher ranks were missing.
  • Fixed an issue where Season Pass ranks past 100 were not being properly registered on the Journey screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the reward for rank 71 on the Season Pass was not unlocking properly.
    • This issue was only visual, and the boost was properly applied when unlocked.
  • Fixed an issue where the Eververse featured carousel sound effect could be heard while previewing other items.

Gameplay and Investment

ARMOR

  • Fixed an issue where dexterity mods were not providing the proper benefits to weapon's ready speed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Stronghold Exotic gauntlets were not properly extending the duration of restoration based on the number of shots blocked and causing it to grant restoration on dealing damage with any Sword.
    • Now applies restoration after blocking damage immediately after a swing and extends its duration based on the number of enemy attacks blocked.
  • Fixed an issue where the Blight Ranger Exotic helmet was consuming Super energy while guarding.
  • Fixed an issue where the NPA Weir-Walker armor sets had inconsistent glowing effects.
  • Fixed an issue where the Channeling Robes chest armor was missing a texture.

WEAPONS

General

  • Fixed an issue where Stasis weapons with splash damage were dealing less damage than intended to Stasis crystals.
  • The New Pacific Epitaph Grenade Launcher was a notable example of this.
  • Fixed an issue where Season of the Deep’s reprised Reckoning weapons would incorrectly apply a Taken visual effects to their ornaments.
    • This patch note has been updated to better address the issue fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Until Its Return Legendary Shotgun showed a slightly displaced glare.
  • Fixed an issue where enhanced weapons could not apply nor preview Memento shaders.
  • Fixed an issue where the Targeted Redaction Hand Cannon was using the incorrect firing animation.
    • This aggressive-frame Hand Cannon was using the recoil pattern from the lightweight frame, giving it a marginally unintentional advantage.

Pulse Rifles

  • At 0 Aim Assist, reduced the auto aim angle by ~10%.

Bows

  • Lightweight
    • Increased final accuracy by ~10%.
    • Developer note: In the mid-Season patch preview we erroneously included a change to lightweight Bow damage falloff distance. Bows do not currently have damage falloff, in large part due to an issue where they could fail to be hit scan at longer ranges. This can cause inconsistent hit registration, so also having them lose damage felt overly punishing. In Season 22 we have corrected the issue, and we preemptively set Bows up to be able to have damage falloff, but it is not currently enabled.

Submachine Guns

  • Precision
    • Improved the dynamic reticle for Shayura's Wrath when aiming down sights.

Shotguns

  • Lightweight
    • Reduced the spread angle of the outer horizontal pellets by 15%.

Exotics

  • Graviton Lance
    • Increased PvE damage by 67%.
    • Removed the extra aim assist provided by the catalyst.
    • Reduced the damage dealt to players by the Cosmology explosion by 40%.
      • Damage in PvE unchanged.
  • No Time To Explain
    • Reduced range stat by 10.
  • Fighting Lion
    • Fixed an issue where the Chimera perk on the catalyst wasn't applying the buffs to Kinetic and Power weapons.
  • The Navigator
  • Fixed an issue where the catalyst perk timer was not showing in the buff tray.
  • Cerberus+1
    • Reduced damage to Stasis crystals.

Perks & Traits

  • Gutshot Straight
    • Reduced auto-aim penalty by 37.5%.
  • Slickdraw
    • Reduced auto-aim penalty by 33%.
  • Target Lock
    • Reduced maximum damage versus players from 40% to 25%.
      • Damage in PvE unchanged.

ABILITIES

Stasis

  • Whisper of Rime
    • Reduce max overshield amount from 100 hp to 50 hp.
    • Reduce overshield gain per Stasis Shard from 12.5 hp to 5 hp.
    • Non-player combatants now deal 50% damage to Whisper of Rime overshield.
  • Whisper of Chains
    • Reduced damage reduction in PvP from 15% to 5%.

Strand

  • Threaded Specter, Flechette Storm, and The Wanderer will now display unique icons in the kill-feed in PvP activities.
  • Fixed an issue where Threadlings were colliding and detonating near Supremacy crests.
  • Fixed an issue where The Wanderer Aspect erroneously showed the Threadlings flyout tutorial.

BOUNTIES AND PURSUITS

  • Fixed an issue where the Standard Fare bounty would not progress on Kinetic weapons kills.

COMBATANTS

  • Fixed an issue where Tormentor’s abilities were missing some visual effects.

GENERAL

LOCALIZATION

  • Korean
    • Fixed a mismatch with audio and subtitles when interacting with Cayde's memorial in the Tower.
  • Various languages
    • Fixed an issue where some descriptions in the Loadouts screen would overflow their text boxes.
    • Fixed some volume inconsistencies when playing the archive recordings in the Veil Containment mission.

Banshee is selling a decent Old Sterling till reset tomorrow.

Perfect Float/Frenzy

These two perks go well together and IMO Banshee hasn't sold a good version of this gun yet. Considering how hard it is to get world loot pool guns this may be worth a grab.

I think this roll straddles PVE and PVP but LMK what you think.

Seriously, I don't know what it is about this super, but it feels absolutely terrible in PVP. There's definitely something wrong with the damage resist, because it doesn't even feel like 0% DR, it feels like negative DR sometimes. I can't tell if maybe the animation just makes your hitbox an easier target or if you're actually just getting melted faster in that super, but it makes it pretty damn impossible to actually close the distance to get within killing range on most maps. Even worse if somebody's got Vorpal; you just get deleted before you even realize what hit you.

Not to mention the terrible third-person camera you're forced into for this super which makes movement an even bigger chore. I bounce so many walls trying to grapple around in this super. Half my super energy is spent on just trying to position myself so that I'm closely-aligned enough on the X axis for the rope dart to even connect with my target.

And even then, it's a coin toss whether or not it'll register a kill at all. I've had so many times where the dart 100% pierces the enemy, and it just whiffs. It's just bad in every regard. Meanwhile, Titans have like 5 different options for free OHKO melee abilities that seem to connect from halfway across Eternity sometimes.

It really makes me wish that Hunters had an exotic that gave you some sort of bonus for hanging onto your super, like Mantle of Battle Harmony or something, because I feel like I'm throwing every time I pop this super in PVP. If I ever manage to get a kill with this super, I pretty much never make it out alive. It causes me to end up hanging onto my super and not using it in some matches, because why risk feeding the enemy team a free kill when I can most likely land more kills without the super?

I'll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for entertaining my rant. Bungie, pls buff, thx.

Light.gg says hes in the EDZ, Winding Cove.

Exotic Guns:

  • Scoop Vigilance wing if you don't have it. It has some use in PVP.
  • Skip both Hawkmoon and DMT.

Legendary Guns:

  • Honestly, nothing really special here. The guns available that do have patterns are on the low end of craftable weapons.

Exotic Armor:

Hunters:

  • Pretty good roll on Frostees if you can make up for that 4 Mobility with other armor.

Titans:

  • Lol skip. No need for high strength on Skullfort.

Warlocks:

  • Probably also skip. Too much mobility.

Legendary Armor:

Hunters:

  • Good gloves, chest, and boots. Good spikes in Recov and Resil.

Titans:

  • Good helmet, chest, and boots. These three together boost what are IMO the best Titan stats to have. Resil, Recov, and Dis.

Warlocks:

  • Good chest and boots for melee builds but not much else.

I guess I'm just here to vent. I was a day 1 D1 guardian, and have put more hours into Destiny as a franchise than any other game in my library. I quit D2 after Curse of Osiris because PvP was the only thing going, and Bungie had just made Sniper/Sidearm the only viable loadout and it broke me. I came back just after Witch Queen, because the hype was inescapable. Caught up on the lore, got my Scallywag badge and then my Seraph badge... And then in season of Defiance I noticed a change.

A change I've seen get only worse in season of the deep: there is no way for me to complete the seasonal title solo.

"Just use LFG". Not the point. I have always been able to enjoy Destiny as a solo player. Always enjoyed the matchmade playlists. Loved the challenge of going after Brakion to get Vexcalibur. Hell, Bungie even seemed to be catering more to players like me by promising in game LFG with Lightfall... I shouldn't have to throw myself on the mercy of strangers on a 3rd party website just to find two people who want to do all the pressure trials.

I just feel disincented. I don't really expect anything to change, but I do kind of feel bummed out about how much Bungie seems to be moving away from players like me: that I'm no longer the target audience for a game I enjoy the spit out of.

/rant. Thanks for listening you guys. Maybe it's time to finish Returnal or something...

I wanted to make this post to remind you all of two things going on for Bungie day! First, there's the fishing derbies taking place today, with two more coming as of this post. Taken from the 7/6/23 TWID yesterday, here's some details for those interested in competing:

As part of our Bungie Day celebration, we’ve got a series of community fishing derbies for players to compete in for those that want to really dive deep into this Season’s fun. To compete, Guardians will need to catch as many fish as possible within a given time frame. There will be five fishing derbies, which will be one hour each, spread out throughout the day to help you find a good time to participate:

  • Alpha Derby at 2 AM PST at 2 AM PST
  • Bravo Derby at 6 AM PST at 6 AM PST
  • Charlie Derby at 10 AM PSTat 10 AM PST
  • Delta Derby at 2 PM PSTat 2 PM PST
  • Echo Derby at 6 PM PSTat 6 PM PST

The top three scorers from each of the five derbies will be highlighted in next week’s TWID as well as receive a special Bungie Foundation Digital Prize Pack that contains the following items:

  • Heartful Shell Exotic Ghost, fully equipped with heart bubbles galore.
  • Blue Blood Cells, this year’s Bungie Day Giving Festival emblem.
  • Helium Hearts, give your bestie something to lift their spirits.
  • Bungie Day emblem bundle. Every Bungie Day emblem released over the past five years.

If one person wins multiple derbies, we will award the next highest scorer. With the Lucky Perk that went live at reset this week, you’ll have a chance to catch double the number of Exotic fish while scoping out your favorite hot spots for some chill time. Ready to tally up? Here’s what you need to know on the scoring:

  • Junk = 0 points
  • Uncommon = 1 point
  • Rare = 2 points
  • Legendary = 5 points
  • Exotic = 20 points

Oh, and did we mention increased reputation gains across the board for Rituals until July 11? Because that’s pretty sweet too.

And of course, the Bungie Foundation is running a whole bunch of stuff for charity. You can read the Bungie Day Giving Festival article here, which goes into full detail of what's going on, what rewards are offered, and more.

For those that don't know what the Bungie Foundation does, here's an excerpt from the article detailing some of the work they've done, as well as some of the goodies you can receive for donating:

Before we chat shiny things, we want to talk about the real-world impact your support is having in the world. We finished 2022 raising more than $5 million for charity across all campaigns. Simply put, that is astounding! Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for your generosity.

Your support enabled us to onboard three new partner hospitals into the Little Lights program, which provides pediatric patients with iPads containing age-appropriate entertainment, therapeutic play, and education applications to provide comfort, distraction, and a sense of normalcy to their hospital experience. You also ensured that we could continue our funding of the groundbreaking anti-racist character creation research, led by the talented team at Yale University, and you helped us provide STEM scholarships to incoming freshmen who would otherwise be unable to afford a college education. And you provided life-saving funding for low-income communities around the world who have been – and will be – impacted by natural or socio-political crisis.

When 2023 started out with the devasting earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the Bungie community immediately leapt into action. In less than a week, you raised over $300,000 that went directly to life-saving relief efforts through our partners Direct Relief and International Rescue Committee. Most recently, the community truly embodied the call to “Stand with Asians” with your support of the Harmonic Waves emblem, raising over $100,000 for International Community Health Services.

And with that, I wish you all a wonderful 7/7! Go forth and donate, and celebrate the wonderful gaming experiences Bungie has created for us with Destiny, Halo, Marathon, and more.

Happy Bungie Day!

Location: Tower Hangar

Exotic Weapons:

  • Coldheart
  • Dead Man's Tale
    • Smallbore / Ricochet Rounds / Vorpal Weapon / Fitted Stock
  • Hawkmoon
    • Hammer-Forged Rifling / Eye of the Storm / Textured Grip

Exotic Armor:

Note: I'm a Warlock main; don't expect my roll takes for Hunter and Titan to mean anything

  • Warlock: Wings of Sacred Dawn
    • 17 Mobility, 15 Intellect, 67 total. Pass.
  • Hunter: Wormhusk Crown
    • 17 Mobility, 26 Strength. Pretty decent?
  • Titan: Stronghold
    • 20 Resilience, 16 Discipline, 16 Strength. Grab these.

Legendary Weapons:

  • Whispering Slab
    • Kinetic Bow
    • Quickdraw / Demolitionist
  • Cold Denial
    • Kinetic Pulse
    • Feeding Frenzy / Swashbuckler
  • Hoosegow
    • Arc Rocket Launcher
    • Auto-Loading Holster / Cluster Bomb
  • Night Watch
    • Kinetic Scout Rifle
    • Outlaw / Multikill Clip
  • Fractethyst
    • Stasis Shotgun
    • Full Auto Trigger System / Thresh
  • Extraordinary Rendition
    • Kinetic SMG
    • Overflow / Tap the Trigger
  • Path of Least Resistance
    • Arc Trace Rifle
    • Stats for All / One for All

Legendary Armor:

Ketchkiller's Armor Set

  • S18, Season of Plunder armor set

Standouts to me are Stronghold for Titans, and Path of Least Resistance. Scoop this up if you still need a Trace Rifle for double special! Great roll out of the box, too. The Hoosegow is a solid rocket for general use. Night Watch has a solid roll as well.

Weapon Archetypes

Pulse Rifles:

  • Reduced auto aim by ~10% when the Aim Assist Stat is 0

Lightweight Bows:

  • Damage falloff distance increased. (will do more damage at longer ranges)
  • Accuracy increased by ~10%

Shayura's Wrath:

  • Made improvements to the dynamic reticle they've been testing on that gun. If you haven't seen it the current reticle basically blocks your view and sucks.

Lightweight Shotguns:

  • Reduced spread angle of outer pellets by 15%. Should result in more consistency in PVP.

Exotic Weapons

Graviton Lance:

  • PVE damage up 67%
  • No more aim assist from the Catalyst
  • Cosmology PVP damage reduced 40%. PVE damage unchanged

No Time To Explain:

  • Reduced range stat by 10

Fighting Lion:

  • Bug Fix for the Chimera perk

Perks

Gutshot Straight:

  • Reduced auto aim penalty by 37.5%

Slickdraw:

  • Reduced auto aim penalty by 33%

Target Lock:

  • PVP damage reduced from 40% to 25% (This is still going to shred as long as you can aim IMO)
  • PVE damage unchanged

Zoom Changes

Future:

  • Season 22 will see zoom changes to all weapons. Two high level goals:
    • Reduce the variance between the optimal engagement ranges of our mid-range weapons (Auto Rifles, Pulse Rifles, and Hand Cannons).
    • Slightly reduce the average engagement range in Crucible by pulling in the maximum damage falloff distances of many weapon types.
  • They have a big table going over where ADS damage falloff will be for each gun after this change. The table shows Old Base Zoom, Old Base Zoom+Rangefinder, then New Base ADS Modifier. TBH, I'm going to wait for CoolGuy or someone to explain this. As I understand it engagements are essentially going to get closer.
  • They mention that certain exotics are getting custom tuning under this new system.
  • Rifle style weapons should experience falloff more gradually while handheld weapons should experience it more quickly.

Other Season 22 Changes:

  • Hand Cannon Buffs that were mentioned previously. Reload speed and PVE damage buffs.
  • Sword guard getting reworked. (maybe it'll actually do something now?)
  • More exotic tuning. LeMonarque and Touch of Malice mentioned.
  • Bipod, Envious Assassin, and Over Under getting reworked

Season 23 should see lots of changes to Glaives to make them feel better. Details are still in flux right now.

Video for those who haven't done it yet.

I need to use it more, but so far, I'm actually quite enjoying it. It doesn't seem super strong or anything (especially when something like Ager's Scepter exists), but it seems pretty solid. Feels like a solid workhorse gun to me. Once we're able to get the catalyst (correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody's gotten it yet), it'll be pretty nice in a stasis shard setup. My one wish is that it got a damage boost from collecting shards as well, because never reloading is nice, but feels slightly lacking. It would also fit the theme of the gun, being a gift from Xivu Arath to basically tithe as the Hive do with the sword logic.

The thing making me want to use it a lot going forward is the look. It looks simply amazing; very unique styling. It almost reminds me of Alchemist's Raiment from D1 with the lights.

What does everyone else think of it?

Reconstruction is very good, especially when dealing with Champions. Less worry about not having ammo to pop a barrier. Hatchling will hopefully get better with threadling buffs coming in the near future.
