I've only lived here in Austin for a year, but I find myself slipping into a routine. I end up going to the same few places for lunch or for weekend breakfast tacos. I'd like to mix it up a bit.

What are some of your favorite restaurants, bars, and venues in South/Central Austin?

Hi. Looking for a good German import mechanic in South Austin for Porsche and Audi. Have a 20+ year old Porsche that needs a little maintenance. Any recommendations?

Waymo says its driverless taxis will traverse “a large portion of the city night and day,” covering spots like “the heart of downtown, Barton Hills, Riverside, East Austin, Hyde Park and more.” The company makes no mention of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, where the taxi business is typically the most lucrative.

I don't understand how a driverless car can work when we barely paint lines on our streets, sure as heck can't see lanes in the rain most of the time. Also, how will these things react to the people that like to run up to the front of lines and just cut in without any regard to other's safety, will the smart car just slam on the brakes?

[T]emperatures have reached the century mark for 27 days in a row. With records dating back to the 1890s, that ties with 2011 as the longest stretch of triple-digit temperatures ever recorded in Austin.

The KXAN First Warning Weather team is currently forecasting at least seven more days at or above 100°, which would extend the streak past 30 days.

Positive news from the state on this issue, and kudos to Kirk Watson for knowing how to build relationships and get things done with the state

Thoughts? I sure would hate if I lived next to one, luckily not many people would want to stay in southeast Austin.

Could always use more green spaces as more people move here and our existing parks and waterways fill up.

Let's see if they can still afford rent, or if the new landowners will even offer to renew their lease.

Pretty sure there will be Condos there in no time :(

I saw a clip a couple years back, he goes around Texas and shows some cool things to do. It does have some moments that might only make a child, or someone who is still a child inside laugh. I really enjoyed this episode.

Anyone else like Daytripper? Any favorite episodes?

Big changes...shuttle buses, payment, etc. I don't even go to Zilker any more except for Barton Springs since it's impossible to park there and there are many local parks around anyway.

I'm excited to attend ACL Festival this year (my first time).

My partner and I would like to plan out our weekend. When do we learn the stages and times for different artists?

And a separate question: When can I buy this year's T-shirt? I only see 2022 for sale on the website.

Thanks!

Full article by Johann Castro & Kelsey SanchezAUSTIN, Texas — A small plane crashed into a vacant, two-story home in Georgetown on Sunday morning.

According to the Georgetown Fire Department (GFD), the crash occurred just before noon in the 500 block of Northwood Drive.

The plane had three occupants, all of whom were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shannon Hayes said she was walking her dog when she saw the plane crash and called 911.

"That boom, that noise that that plane was making beforehand, you knew it wasn't good," Hayes said. "Some of the neighbors ran over. Two people climbed out of the airplane onto the roof and were asking for ladders while I was on the phone with 911."

We are now in Georgetown where a plane crashed down on this vacant house. 3 people inside the plane were sent to the hospital & NTSB is investigating. I talked to a woman who says she saw the whole thing. More at 5:30. @KVUE pic.twitter.com/UMMzdg8K1F

— Kelsey Sanchez (@KelsSanchez) July 23, 2023

KVUE obtained audio from the air traffic control tower, which suggests the crash might have been a result of an engine failure.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has started an investigation into what caused the crash to occur. The GFD will assist in the early stages of the investigation.

KVUE reached out on Sunday to NTSB for further information. KVUE also reached out to the GFD. Fire Chief John Sullivan said there should be an update on Monday.

People were asked to avoid the area on Sunday.
