Looking for recommendations for a touchless car wash. Currently using the shell at Burnharmthorpe and Mavis but its kind of far. There is another one I used in the past in Dixon and Islington that is supposed to give both touchless and roller options, selectable in the screen, but the last time i was there it didnt ask, used rollers.

I haven't met a single person that thought this was a good change, in terms of use of money and the name.

I want something more positive and uplifting. This artwork isn't helping the environment at all.

Any good social events in Toronto? To make new friends, etc.

I am with Gore currently they are renewing my contract soon and raisng rate. I have never needed them so I cant really say if they are any good or not. But $40/mth seems kind of expensive.

I'm usually at the lowest rates. Other than my computer I don't own anything of much value. And I've never done anything to require a payout in over 20 years of renting. So I should be paying minimal levels.

I tried to call RBC about it setting up a plan. They told be they'd call me back at 5pm tommrow. That was about 2 weeks ago. So I took that as a red flag.

I've been using Bell since prior to moving here. Everywhere I ask suggest that have the best "coverage". They even have 3 towers near my location. but neither my roommate or I can get a decent signal in our condo. I often miss calls or experience disconnects.

This is also true when out doing errands such as buying groceries. I usually send pictures to my roommate to confirm what I need to buy. But often need find specific places in the stores that have signal.

Does anyone else have this issue? also is there any provider which doesn't have this issue?

Solution

There was a wifi calling option on my phone. I was confused by the websites which made it sound like somthing that cost extra. Turns out you just need to provide an adress for 911 use then it just sorta works.

I had a couple of sick kids all week so I didn't get a chance to grab some essential groceries all week, now that I have a chance I look online and it seems only the whole foods and rabba are the ones that are open today. Those are the two I usually avoid because of their ridiculous prices, so I was wondering why the cheaper places don't open, and if it has anything to do with Ontario law.

I'm going to be coming up from the US for a week in a few days. (When I booked the trip back in May, Canada seemed a lot less... flammable :( ) For me, a big part of leisure travel is indulging nerdy fixations in shops that there are no local equivalents for, away from the rest of the family asking "you bought WHAT?" until it's far too late to feel shame.

Any good suggestions for the following? (Extra points given for public-transit easy access; I enjoy a walking- and train-focused vacation)

  • Anime goods shop

  • Model-railway-centric hobby shop.

  • Electronics-surplus shops/long-lived computer shops that have backstock dating to the era of George VI. The sort of place where you might find a LS-120 drive, weird Commodore stuff, or a cache of ISA cards.

  • Neighbourhood-style coin shop (the sort of place that has albums for different series, and wouldn't take offense if I'm looking in the $50 range rather than the $50,000 range).

On a related note, I'd like to try to get some of the 1968-1986-or-so nickel "Voyageur" dollars-- do banks typically have caches of them if you ask, or are they definitely something you'll have to go to a coin shop for?

It's been closed due to "unforseen circumstances" for a few weeks now according to the notes on the door.

Anyone know the story there and when it may open up again?

Resolved

It opened back up after like 3 months. No idea what closed it

A dumb question here: Due to job duty change, I need to be back to office a few months later. My office is not close to subway station, so I'm thinking of riding a bicycle. I have never done that before in Toronto, and I have several doubts

  1. Is riding the bicycle along Yonge St. (Davisville Ave to Dundas) safe? Is there a separated bike lane?
  2. Can I still ride in winter? How uncomfortable it would be for riding 5 km?
  3. Furthermore, in winter, will the bike lane be used for dumping snow? (it happens in some cities)
  4. Is there an online guide or book for newbies like me?

Thank you for your tolerance to my questions

Looks like it might be raining all next weekend. I was used to Toronto always being somewhat sunny, but these days with the forest fire smoke or rain, it feels like there's a lot more time indoors. Any good ideas for weekend activities when it rains... besides the obvious (ie.movies or malls)?

Brining back one of the most asked questions from the sub reddit.

I am downtown core area.

The only one I am seeing is the care& family health way out in Yorkville. And the want $300 annually.

I hate the idea but almost desperate enough to pay it.

Solved

Found one near downtown. They had a broken website so they somehow didn't get noticed. Grace medical.
