Power units (self.askanamerican)

How come Americans use penguins or school buses for measuring length and distance but still use kilowatt for power and not let’s say thrown stone per mile?

An oldie but a goodie.

This utterly corrupt demagogue was blatantly bribed by the big banks to funnel a huge chunk of the incomes of all able bodied, educated people in the United States into the already absurdly rich banking industry.

It makes me so angry when someone asserts that Joe Biden is a "decent man". No. He really isn't. He's a corrupt, greedy sociopath with slightly different marketing than his spiritural brother, Donald Trump.

The sooner we can all realize that it's the VOTING SYSTEM in the US that needs to be completely reformed from scratch, the sooner we can stop defending these types of grifters.

This German newspaper article (translated by Deepl) claims that Democrats will defend Johnson against attempts by the right of his party to unseat him as speaker. I don't know the ins and outs of US politics, therefore I ask: What do you think?

So if they ask people to cut back on electricity use, can you cut back AC to just a few rooms to chill in? Or are you stuck with the whole house?

Here are some equivalents im already aware of:

Canada Dominion Lands Act = US Homestead Act

Canada Dominion Land Survey = US Public Land Survey System

Ontario County Roads = American Local County Highways

Bloc Settlement = Ethnic Group Settlement (USA)

1981 Alberta Rural Road Addressing System = ???????????

Do any american states have some kind of rural postal addressing system for very rural farmland area? similar to the alberta thing?

Like in Canada in the winter when it's cold, you basically just hustle from one heated building to the next.
