The lack of CarPlay and Android Auto is killing them. Look, I don't care how fancy your UI is, I want an infotainment system that will stay relevant even after the car manufacturer stops updating/goes bankrupt/removes features/starts requiring a subscription.

I mean, there are also cases where the same company has been ransomed by multiple different TAs after paying ransoms, so it doesn't always go down the way you described either.

I think there are a few that unknowingly provide data to hostile nations. Only one that I'm aware of did so with intent.
