They server my domains and 100 other domains, one of the also act as a slave/secondary DNS server for others who wish to use it.

I am actually decomissioning the serverrack I have with my friends just because lack of time.

Used to run a lot of small things for the community, but like you - time and resources was lacking.

It is a giant MITM proxy, and whoever who has access to their logs have the potential to gain a lot of control

Since your name is Helig, I assume you are from the Nordics. Loopia has support for dynamic DNS.

All domains works with Dynamic IPs - it all depends on what DNS-provider you use :) Provider like Cloudflare ( I do not recommend Cloudflare) and afraid.org both offer dynamic DNS.

There is always the censorship factor - it all depends on the team managing the instance you are on. Hopefully they manage it well - like most admins do.

Intel NUC is probably the best choice - silent, possible to have two SSDs, pretty low powered.

Personally, I did settle with 13 Dell optiplexes 9020 SFF

What do you self-host? (compuverse.uk)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I'll start:

  • Kubernetes
  • Nextcloud
  • Matrix-synapse
  • Minecraft
  • Authoritive DNS servers (powerDNS)
  • Mail-servers (postfix, and Haraka)
  • Peertube
  • Writefreely
  • GoToSocial (a small footprint fediverse server)
  • CalcKey (fediverse software)
  • My own small websites
  • Some small bots
  • Kubernetes
  • VPN

The Hardware I use:

  • A bunch of Dell Optiplexes, Proliant Microserver G8, Synology NAS, mikrotik switches.
  • And a rack with a 100TB ceph cluster with some friends with a total of 700 cores and 4tTB RAM

Admin/owner over a medium sized mastodon instance, long time fediverse user. Living in Sweden and have been a Linux user since before I was able to get a mustache.

Compuverse came to my attention because my brother showed it to me, the domain name was the main reason I like it. :)
