Holy crap! I thought I recognized him in B5, and later on Voyager, I had totally forgotten he was the Harkonnen Mentat in Dune. He did a fantastic job the both latter roles, I don't think he was fleshed out enough in Dune

I think you'll enjoy Children of Dune much more than Messiah

It's been a while since I've read the series, but I don't recall feeling the same excitement with the successive novels as I did with the first. I did read all 6 of them, but honestly by the time I started God Emperor I felt as though the storyline was getting a little too off base.

Regarding the Dune movie, it's what got me into the books, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As with 90% of adaptations, there is no way for a film to capture the nuances of the source, doubly so for a book such as Dune

Just read an ArsTechnica article about David Lynch's unfinished Dune Messiah's script. It was a long, but interesting read

Wow, TiL. I only knew of 2 different versions of the movie differentiated by the opening narration

TIL - Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation

That reminds me, so is SCUBA, RADAR and MODEM...I miss the old History Channel shows, especially Modern Marvels

SCUBA: Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (Blew my mind for some reason when I learned that)
RADAR: Radio Detection and Ranging (I've watched alot of WWII documentaries)
MODEM: Modulation Demodulation (I've worked in tech)

Tegucigalpa is the capital of Honduras. No idea where I learned that

I remember a few years ago when Google or AWS staff rebelled because the Pentagon was going to use their (hosting?) services. I guess those types people at OpenAI have either been let go, or beaten into submission. I understand the feeling of futility, when no matter how much effort you put into something, someone above you who has little to no understanding of what they're doing, won't listen to your advice/recommendation

So close. It's like they knew they had to do something, just not exactly what
