Latest 538 podcast goes into this. They feel it's probably a mix of public perception and preference toward incremental change from Roberts and Kavanaugh to a lesser extent. So the issue may return later.
On the plus side, you can still subscribe and comment on their communities (as long as your instance isn't defederated like lemmy.world, but that's mostly a short term issue).
