It is funny that you are talking about evidence making nothing but assumptions and claims.
It is teaching what we believe and what we think is important. Every parent does that. Atheists often do not realize that they do that even more than the christian parents. For a real Christian it is important that the child has the ability to make their own decision because that is the basis of our believe: the decisions to follow Jesus.
